The University seeks to foster a positive relationship with its local communities. The University and our students bring great benefits to the City and region but also understands that there are concerns in local communities. The concentration of students in InnerNorth-West Leeds and smaller communities therein have seen student numbers increase to the point at which the benefits of the student population are outweighed by the loss of community. This section explores the current community and associated strategy work undertaken by the University in partnership with local stakeholders to support the integration of students as active citizens. »» Find out more
The University sees its role as a provider of cultural events and facilities within the community as vital, productive and, essentially, reciprocal. We are committed to developing this aspect of our activity by increasing the cultural links and inter-relationships we share with the city and surrounding region. A culture task group and working group have been set up recently to oversee the implementation of a cultural strategy and we have begun to strategically develop our relationships with both the city council and other regional cultural institutions through several high profile projects and events. This section presents each of these projects in more detail.
