University of Leeds Scholarships
We understand the importance of developing talent, acknowledging achievement and recognizing the difficulties some students face when they decide they want to go to university. These are just some of the reasons why Access and Community Engagement administer a portfolio of undergraduate scholarships designed to nurture potential, recognize excellence and support students here at Leeds.
What is a Scholarship?
Scholarships are pots of money set aside to help students get to university and stay on course. They are awarded on criteria including where you live and your personal circumstances. All our scholarships take your academic achievement into account, but this doesn't mean that you need to be the cleverest student in your year - it simply means that you are able to cope in an academic environment. Our scholarships require you to continue achieving academic success throughout your course.
The scholarships are limited in number and can be highly competitive. We are committed to helping as many students as we can with the available funding, so if you successfully apply for more than one scholarship, you will normally receive the one of highest value.
Benefits of our scholarships
The financial benefits of the scholarships are self-evident but we also believe that the support offered to the scholarship winners on our schemes whilst they are here is equally important. Our scholars are able to access the scholar support network which comprises peer support, financial advice, employability enhancement opportunities and a pre-registration orientation day (to give scholars the chance to experience university life and develop social networks with other scholars before they commence university).
