The USCS offers a confidential counselling service from a professionally qualified counsellor for a wide range of issues. Liz Oxley, the student counsellor for the Bretton Hall and Wakefield campuses, is available to consult with staff about students who are concerning them. (Liz works at the Student Counselling Centre in Leeds on Wednesdays) and operates surgeries on the Wakefield campus.

A nurse from the NHS Walk-in Centre is available on the Bretton Hall campus Monday - Friday 10.30am - 2.00pm

The Bretton Hall campus doctor visits (for appointments) on Tuesdays between 11am - 12 midday.

Nightline is a listening and information telephone service run for students by students. It is anonymous, non-judgemental, non-advisory and completely confidential. It offers non-directive listening and provides practical information on all areas of student life. Nightline is funded by Leeds University Union and is run by trained student volunteers from both Leeds University and Leeds Metropolitan University.

The Chaplaincy team consists of a group of volunteer ministers from a number of local Christian churches who are committed to supporting the University community. During the term there is usually a Chaplain on the Bretton Hall Campus on Monday and Wednesday mornings.The Oasis room is a space available to anyone who wishes to have time for quiet reflection, prayer or stillness; here you can write your thoughts and requests for prayer in the book provided.

Wednesday lunchtimes provide a time for quiet prayer with one or more of the chaplains.

The elected Bretton Hall office guides the Committee and a team of elected student volunteers who will be happy to provide support on any issues relevant to student life, supported by a membership services co-ordinator (ext. 39201).
