| Leeds Student Medical Practice
is an NHS General Practice, situtated close to the campus
and specialising in all aspects of student health. There
is a sick bay staffed 24 hours during term-time by qualified
nursing staff. The Practice offers a range of specialist
services, including liaison with psychiatric services
and a consultancy service for staff. |

LUU offers comprehensive information,
advice and representation for students, prospective students
and staff of the University of Leeds. Clients are seen
on an appointment basis, although brief enquiries can
be dealt with on a drop-in basis.
The staff have specialist knowledge in housing, academic
procedures, money, immigration and employment. They can
also advise and support students on the University Complaint
and Harassment procedures and they assess students for
the University Hardship Funds.
In addition to offering advice on an individual basis,
the service also produce a number of publications that
are available on the welfare website.
The service has a self-help student reference section. |

Nightline is a listening and
information telephone service run for students by students.
It is anonymous, non-judgemental, non-advisory and completely
confidential. It offers non-directive listening and provides
practical information on all areas of student life in
Leeds.
There is also a daytime drop-in service upstairs in the
Union building, where free condoms and pregnancy kits
are available. Nightline is funded by Leeds University
Union and is run by trained student volunteers from both
Leeds University and Leeds Metropolitan University. |

The main Christian churches
and the Jewish community appoint Chaplains for members
of the University. Many other religious groups also flourish
within the University. Names and addresses of the Chaplains,
and contacts for other religious communities are available
from the administrator.
The chaplaincy operates a pastoral drop-in rota with a
Chaplain on duty at the Emanuel Institute (at the front
gate of the University) from 0900-1700 Monday to Friday.
Chaplains are also available at their home number outside
office hours for emergencies or appointments. Chaplains

| The International Student
Office offers help and advice to international students
with any problems they may experience before and during
their time at Leeds. The International Student Office
social activities are of particular help to students and
scholars experiencing culture shock and mental health
problems related to feeling isolated. These activities
give them an opportunity to meet other students in a similar
position to themselves and develop a support network. |

Office is situated at the side of the Emmanuel Church
in Woodhouse Lane. Liaison is maintained by the Security
Service with the local police on all matters and thus
