Upgrade / Installation steps

NOTE: You will need admin rights to uninstall and install Articulate, so make the necessary arrangements with ISS or your local IT support team.

1. Browse to http://www.articulate.com/downloads/09/ and click on Start EXE Download under Articulate Studio 09 Pro
2. Save the EXE file to your computer (the Desktop, for instance)
3. Double-click on the EXE file to start the installation - you will be prompted to uninstall the previous version. Do so!
4. Once the software is installed, it needs to be activated. In order to do that, you need:
   1. to be connected to the Internet
   2. to have the e-mail with the licenses received from Leeds Articulate support
   3. For Articulate Presenter activation, start PowerPoint, then you will be prompted to Activate with your serial number (see screenshot below). For Articulate Engage, Quizmaker and Video Encoder you just need to start the programmes from the Desktop shortcuts or the Start / Programs / Articulate menu items.

   

Upgrade implications

• Articulate Studio 09 works slightly differently from the previous version. The main difference is that Articulate Presenter 06 used to store your narration and the other multimedia you were going to use in a folder with the same name as the PowerPoint presentation you were working on

• In the new version, everything will be stored in an Articulate project file (extension .ppta). When you open a PowerPoint presentation you had worked on previously using Articulate 06 and you modify it using Articulate Presenter 09, Articulate Presenter 09 will tell you that it needs to upgrade it an that a backup of your old files will be created. The result can be viewed in the screenshot below.

• Quizmaker 09 has received a radical facelift, making it a very exciting application indeed. However, if you created quizzes using Quizmaker 06, you will need to open them in Quizmaker 09, save them under the new version (extension .quiz), then publish them again (you can send them straight to your PowerPoint if you have that opened, too). Finally, you will need to delete the slide with the placeholder for the old quiz. The following 10 screenshots illustrate the process.
