International Business offers a great opportunity to explore management and operational aspects of organisations around the world, and how they work to make their foreign operations sustainable and profitable. Youll study a combination of core and optional modules, giving you a firm foundation in the principles of international business management alongside specialist knowledge in areas such as operations and supply chain management or the role of transnational corporations.
This degree will allow you to learn Portuguese from beginners level and gain an insight into Lusophone and Latin American history and culture. By combining core and optional modules, youll build language skills and explore topics from literature and cinema to national identity and the African Diaspora. Youll also benefit from the Instituto Camões the cultural institute of the Portuguese government is on campus and youll have access to all of its facilities.
Our International Business degrees are accredited by the Institute of Export which allows you to acquire an exporting qualification after your studies and strengthens your job prospects in international trade.Back to top
A Joint Honours degree allows you to study the same core topics as students on each Single Honours course, but you’ll take fewer options and discovery modules so you can fit in both subjects. You’ll study one of our Cornerstone modules in Year 1 to draw your two subjects together, and apply your knowledge and skills to a major research project in either subject in your final year.
Youll be introduced to key principles and contemporary issues in international business through core modules in your first year, as well as choosing optional or discovery modules in your subjects or from across the University. Youll build on this knowledge over the next two years, when you develop your understanding of the global economy and principles in management, as well as improving your awareness of different research methods.
In your first year, youll study core modules that develop your language skills. Following this you will take further language study as well as a range of optional modules, such as Hispanic cinema and Latin American history. This will prepare you for your time abroad working or studying in a Lusophone country. When you return for your final year, youll combine advanced language classes and optional modules on aspects of Lusophone culture, history and politics.
