Intergenerational Theatre Production and Exhibition

Inspired by the School of English Writing Back Project, an exhibition of real letters followed by a scripted performance inspired by the letters, written and performed by an intergenerational cast.

Date: 23-06-2017 until 24-06-2017
Time: 18:00 -

You are warmly invited to a theatre production and exhibition as part of the School of English's Writing Back, letter writing project. Over the course of the year, School of English students have been matched as pen pals with older, Yorkshire residents in a bid to combat loneliness in both demographics. As part of this initiative, Georgina Binnie, the Project Lead, has been working with Fall into Place, an intergenerational theatre company. They have been running weekly sessions with students (from the School of English and beyond) and older, local residents. The group has devised a play inspired by the stories shared by our pen pals in their letters. These include the experiences of ex-miners referred to the scheme by the West Yorkshire Archive Service. The play will be performed on Friday 23 June (evening) and Saturday 24 June (matinee) at Headingley Enterprise and Arts Centre and will coincide with an exhibition of project letters and pen pals’ poetry. The performance is approximately an hour long. The exhibition will remain in the main hall until Friday 30 June.

Tickets can be purchased online at or by phoning HEART on 0113 275 4548.
