Teaching and learning facilities

The Language Centre Facility teams maintain language teaching rooms and equipment and provide a central service to all students and staff in the University who wish to learn foreign languages.

On the 2nd floor of the Parkinson Building you will find:

  • the Self-Access Area, open to all students and staff of the University
  • the Gallery, which is an extension of the Self-Access Area.
  • 2 digital language laboratories, with interactive whiteboards, each with a capacity of 26 positions
  • 2 PC classrooms, with student PCs and interactive whiteboards
  • 5 teaching rooms equipped specifically for the teaching of languages (video/DVD/audio players). 3 of these with interactive whiteboards
  • 2 Interpreter Training Facilities used by the Centre for Translation Studies for students of simultaneous interpreting

The 3rd floor houses offices of the teaching and administrative staff, a student common room, a resource room for teachers and 3 teaching rooms, with interactive whiteboards.

On the 12th floor of the Ziff Building, we have offices and 5 teaching rooms with interactive whiteboards and the Language Studio, with student PCs.

In addition to our main premises, we use teaching space in other parts of the campus.
