Are you preparing to study for a postgraduate degree (Masters or PhD) in Business or Management?

This programme will help students to:

  • Improve your level of academic business English to mee the language requirements of your future academic programme
  • Display linguistic and literacy skills to a level that will enable you to communicate competently within an academic context at postgraduate level
  • Improve your awareness of Business and Management vocabulary and concepts in areas such as Marketing, Finance, Human Resources and International Business
  • Develop your academic study skills such as writing business-related academic assignments, preparing for examinations, giving presentations, participating in seminars and reading research articles
  • Demonstrate an awareness and understanding of the academic culture, context and discourse you will participate in on your postgraduate programme
  • Help you to be a reflective learner with demonstrable ability to work autonomously and in a group situations, with a cultural awareness and understanding of ethical academic practices
  • Develop your understanding of University systems, services and facilities

The Academic English for Business & Management programme has two entry points:
January or April depending on your IELTS scores. During the summer (July and August, Terms 4a and 4b), students preparing for courses in business and management will be placed on the appropriate discipline-specific pathway of the postgraduate studies pre-sessional course. Course facts
Class times and class size Classes take place during 9.00 - 17.00 Monday – Friday. Classes have a maximum size of 16 students. 
Minimum enrolment age The minimum age for students studying on this course is 18 years old.

- Access to university facilities and services. Please note that for use of the University’s Sports Centre on campus, ‘The Edge’, there will be a user charge
