Academic English for Undergraduate Studies Pre-sessional Programme

Prepare to study undergraduate modules or the International Foundation Year programme.

The programme will help to prepare you with the knowledge and skills necessary for successful study at undergraduate level and at the same time help you to improve your English language skills.

The programme will:

  • help you to improve your level of English to meet university requirements
  • develop your knowledge of academic English
  • improve your academic reading, writing, listening and speaking skills
  • provide you with an introduction to the University of Leeds and studies in the UK

During the summer you can study the Academic English for Undergraduate Studies full-time for 10 weeks or 6 weeks. Find out more about the academic year course here. Course facts
Class times and class size Classes take place during 9.00 - 17.00 Monday – Friday. Typically maximum class sizes are between 16 and 18 students per class, however this may vary suited to the type of class.
Minimum enrolment age  The minimum age for students studying on this course is 18 years old. 

*In the case of students under the age of 18 who apply to study a pre-sessional Academic English for Undergraduate Studies course before joining the International Foundation Year, exceptions may be made on an individual basis. - Access to university facilities and services. Please note that for use of the University’s Sports Centre on campus, ‘The Edge’, there will be a user charge
