Why learn a language?
Everyone has their own reason for learning a language but here are a few of the more common reasons:
- Learning a language helps to develop your communication skills
- It enables you to communicate with people who don't speak English
- You gain an understanding of and an insight into another culture
which in turn helps you to reflect on your own language and culture
- More and more employers recognise the value of employees who have a
level of competence in a foreign language in addition to their degree
- It opens up a range of opportunities in terms of study/work abroad
and those who can speak the language get more out of the opportunity
- It helps you develop a global perspective and prepares you for living and working in a global social and business environment
Whatever your reason, we hope that you will enjoy the experience and find it very rewarding.
