History graduation
The School places a strong emphasis on professional training and development. There are courses of formal training in research and teaching skills, and ample opportunity for many of our graduate students to be involved in paid undergraduate teaching. We also offer extensive career development and support. Many of our PhD graduates have gone on to academic positions in the UK, Continental Europe, North America and Australia (including Birmingham, Bristol, Paris, Miami and Sydney).

The University's postgraduate Skills Training and Development Team offers a wide range of courses open to all postgraduate students, covering a range of research, language and IT skills. In the Faculty of Arts, the Leeds Humanities Research Institute (LHRI) provides specialist research skills training.
