Student reading in the Brotherton Library

The School of Languages, Cultures and Societies is one of the UK’s leading centres for research and teaching in languages, linguistics and cultures. You have the opportunity to study in a stimulating environment which brings together the experience and insights of our staff members and students from across the world. Many of our courses involve a year spent abroad, and our unique personal tutoring system gives you the individual support of an academic staff member right from the start of your studies at Leeds.

You can study a single honours course, or alternatively combine two subjects and study a joint honours course. Our joint honours courses cover many subject areas including politics, economics, history, philosophy, history of art, English, theatre and performance, management and many more.

In addition to our language provision, you can study additional languages in the University Language Centre where you'll be able to take taught modules or use the self-taught facilities.
