Preparing for your future

Academic support

Each year during your degree you will be assigned a personal tutor who works with you on your academic and personal development. We take personal tutoring seriously and many of our personal tutors have won awards from their students as part of Leeds University Union's yearly 'I Love My Personal Tutor' awards.

You will have one-to-one meetings with your personal tutor each term at key points to discuss things like how to improve your essays or exams, the next year in your degree course, and your plans for the future.

To support personal tutoring, you can update your tutor via the Leeds for Life website. This provides a structured process where you can reflect on your progress and your preparation for your career. Along the way, you will also be building a living CV, recording what you have achieved at Leeds and the skills you have developed as an Arts student.  More information can be found here. Then your entries in the Leeds for Life website provide the basis for your job application and reference from your tutors about your time with us.

Students in the Arts Faculty also benefit from dedicated support in preparing for assessment and understanding feedback.
