Scholarships available for the 2018 academic session:

Sasakawa Postgraduate Studentships in Japanese Studies

  • Eligibility: UK/EU and International students who have applied to study for PhD (full time and part time) and UK students who have applied to study on an MA programme including MA by research (MAR). Non-UK students who have applied to study on an MA programme who have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least 3 years prior to the start of the programme. Please note that this studentship is available for one year only.

Northern Irish Postgraduate Student Loan 

  • Eligibility: Full/ Part-time, taking PgDip/ Masters course, residence of Northern Ireland/ EU national (tbc)
  • Applications open: 2017/18 applications are to be confirmed. The scheme is set to fully open in time for 2018/19.
  • Value: £5,500 tuition fee loans for postgraduate courses

Welsh Interim Postgraduate Loans (201718)

  • Eligibility: Full/Part-time
  • Confirmation of scheme: February 2017
  • Value: up to £10,000 fees and maintenance
  • Information for applicants: subject to consultation; the interim scheme is still to be confirmed. The full Welsh Postgraduate Loan scheme is scheduled to open for 2018/19. See website

If you intend to apply for funding, we recommend that you submit a completed study application at least two months prior to the scholarship deadline. Applicants for interpreting programmes are strongly advised to submit a complete application for a place of study at least three months prior to a scholarship deadline.
