More news relating to Interpreting Representations of 'North' and 'South' in the Spaghetti West

The symbolic representations of North and South that are found in Hollywood Westerns carry clear historical, cultural and ideological meanings that prompt preferred understandings of America’s formative past.  But how should we then interpret the symbolic representations of North and South that are encountered in Italian Westerns?  This research project interrogates the Italian Western’s representations of North and South and explores how and why they might differ to those that are typically found in American Westerns.

The research project ‘Interpreting Representations of “North” and “South” in the Spaghetti West’ is being undertaken by Dr Lee Broughton, Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellow in World Cinemas.
