Our student letter writers are selected from the School of English undergraduate cohort and from the international postgraduate student community across the University of Leeds. They study a variety of disciplines, from English & Greek Civilisation to Engineering. Our students are hugely passionate about the scheme and are powerful advocates for the project.
Our students say:
"I like to take part in the scheme as I have a keen interest in history and believe that the best way to record our heritage is to communicate with those who have experienced it."
"I'm interested in the letter as a form of communication. I almost never normally write letters, but receiving them is a real pleasure."
"I think it's important to be as active as possible within your surrounding community whilst a student. Students make a mistake of thinking we are separate from our local area, but in fact so much can be gained from bringing people together. This project is a unique way of doing that, and it interests me."
