The Writing Back project is currently looking for two University of Leeds student interns to assist with their award-winning project. The scheme matches undergraduate and international postgraduate students as pen pals with older, Yorkshire residents, fostering friendships between different age groups and encouraging cultural exchanges between participants. The project uses letter writing to research loneliness in students and older people.
The two University of Leeds interns will assist with administrative aspects of the project and will help to organise and host meet-up events for students and their pen pals. They will also liaise with older participants and local charities. A person specification, hours of work and salary details can be found in the job advertisements. The Writing Back undergraduate intern must be studying an English or with English degree. The Writing Back international intern must have an understanding of the international postgraduate experience.
Interviews will be held on Thursday 6 September, although it should be possible to conduct these via Skype, if necessary. The role also involves some remote working so please dont be put off from applying if you will not be in Leeds until later on in the month. For any queries, please contact Dr Georgina Binnie (Impact and Research Fellow for the Writing Back project) at G.E.Binnie@leeds.ac.uk. The deadline for the return of applications is Wednesday 22 August 2018.
