Student testimonials

Read below to find out what past students who studied German modules have to say and why they would recommend the modules:

“I would recommend this module because it allows students to expand their cultural knowledge and provides a break from doing the same subject all the time.” Helen Bradshaw, MA Audiovisual Translation Studies, 2nd year – Beginner German

“Because it is very organised and academic. You get a lot of contact hours, information, study materials and tests to feel like you are learning and improving.” Amy Brandhorst, English and Social Policy, 1st year – Beginner German

“The course content is relevant to scenarios where you could use the things you have learnt in real life. You learn at a good pace.” Cathrine Hughes, MAATS, 1st year – Elementary German

“Because my German has really improved and it’s rewarding as you feel yourself improving.” Hannah James, English and History, 2nd year – Lower Intermediate German

“Studying a foreign language is challenging, but extremely rewarding! The Language Centre is an ideal place to learn as it welcomes learners of all abilities and understands that it may have been years since your last lesson.” Emma Simpson, BA International Relations, 1st year – Advanced German

“Good choice of materials, very diverse subjects. Good atmosphere in class.” Zoe Sevenants, French, 2nd year – Advanced German

Which levels do we offer?

We offer German modules from Beginner to Advanced level to undergraduate students at the University of Leeds. These modules are offered as 10 or 20 credit discovery modules and are taught across both semesters or in one semester only.

Please note that due to our 10 credit modules being half the content than our 20 credit modules, it is difficult to progress to the next level.  If you would like the option of progressing to higher levels over your time at the University, please consider the relevant 20 credit module or consult the module tutor regarding further options.
