Student testimonials

Please read below to find out what past students who studied Spanish modules have to say and why they would recommend the modules:

"As I will be studying in Spain for an Erasmus year, I decided to get a basic level of understanding before my arrival. However, I've realised that I have learnt a lot more from my initial expectations. I would definitely recommend the module to all students regardless of school. You will be surprised how much you are going to learn in just one year. The module is fun, interesting and relaxing but attention and willingness to learn are essential." Nikolas Sarris, Accounting and Finance, 2nd year - Beginner Spanish

"It’s engaging and offers a skill for life." Sylwia Norkiewicz, MA in Applied Translation Studies, 2nd year - Beginner Spanish

"It’s very enjoyable and completely different to learning anything else. The module content is useful and it is well structured.” Rebecca Manship, Maths, 2nd year - Beginner Spanish

“Because it’s important to learn the basics of a second language, it’s helpful when visiting other countries and the course is fun.” Rachel Roberts, History of Art, 1st year - Beginner Spanish

“Lots of speaking participation which is great and taught useful every day speech – booking accommodation, trains etc.” Lorna Sheldon, History and German, 2nd year - Elementary Spanish

“It’s interesting and very enjoyable – you learn in a nice and friendly environment, and the skills you learn are relevant and good if you are visiting a Spanish speaking country.” Jordan Moxham, English Language, 2nd year - Elementary Spanish

"Learning a new language is interesting and provides you with a unique skill that may be of use one day. It is also a good break from traditional lectures." Jessica Shuck, Environmental Management, 4th year - Elementary Spanish

“Helps you to increase job prospects. Can offer a challenge and be something different to do.” Aiden Wilkinson, Criminology and Criminal Justice, 2nd year - Lower Intermediate Spanish

“It’s good to do something outside of your degree subject and languages are good to have on your CV.”
Rita Fitchett, International Business, 2nd year - Upper Intermediate Spanish

Which levels do we offer?

We offer Spanish modules from Beginner to Advanced level to undergraduate students at the University of Leeds. These modules are offered as 10 or 20 credit discovery modules and are taught across both semesters or in one semester only.

Please note that due to our 10 credit modules being half the content than our 20 credit modules, it is difficult to progress to the next level.  If you would like the option of progressing to higher levels over your time at the University, please consider the relevant 20 credit module or consult the module tutor regarding further options.
