Ella Jakubowska, a current student of the School of English, has won the TARGETjobs Female Undergraduate of the Year Award at a recent ceremony held at London's Canary Wharf.

My research interests cover three main areas: Renaissance studies, especially the Sidneys of Penshurst (2) Graham Greene, Evelyn Waugh and contemporary Catholic writers (3) Travel writings: 1500-1700.
My PhD topic is the poetry of the Chartist leader, Ernest Jones (1819-69). The title of my thesis is 'The Poetry of Ernest Jones: Myth, Song, and "the Mighty Mind"'.
