Postgraduate seminars

The Postgraduate Seminar meets on a weekly basis during term.  A formal part of the taught programme, this is open to those on research programmes too, and provides a friendly and supportive forum for our graduates to exchange information and talk to each other about their work.

Teaching opportunities

We recognise that it may be important for postgraduate students to gain teaching experience.  Teaching Assistantships are open to all postgraduate students (MA as well as PhD), and consist of undergraduate seminar-taking and associated teaching activities: remuneration varies depending on workload, but would typically total £500-800 over the year.  Senior Teaching Assistantships are open to postgraduate students with some prior experience of teaching (e.g. PhD students from their second year onwards) and involve a package of seminar-taking, marking and other support for one of our core 1st-year undergraduate modules: remuneration would typically total £3,000-5,000 over the year.  There may also be opportunities for Greek or Latin language teaching for suitably qualified students.  Allocations of teaching are made on the basis of interest expressed by current PG students and in applications received by the end of June.
