Postgraduate studies in Arts
Our Faculty is large, diverse and dynamic. We have some 340 research degree students and some 500 taught postgraduate students across a wide range of disciplines.
Research supervision is provided in Classics, English, History, Medieval Studies, Philosophy (incorporating History and Philosophy of Science), Theology and Religious Studies, and in French, German, Italian, Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies, Linguistics and Phonetics, East Asian Studies, Russian and Slavonic Studies, Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies, Translation Studies and World Cinemas.
The Graduate School (based at the Leeds Humanities Research Institute) brings together postgraduates from across the Faculty and provides computer facilities, social space and seminar rooms to enable the Faculty's postgraduate community to mix, exchange ideas and create interdisciplinary networks. As well as study space, you can benefit from the Graduate School's series of skills training, apply for funding for graduate-led conferences and receive advice on funding and career opportunities.
The University has been successful in attaining funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) through the Block Grant Partnership to support Masters and Doctoral studentships in the Faculty of Arts. These studentships are available to UK and EU nationals across a range of disciplines. See the Scholarships website for full details.
