The University of Leeds has been shortlisted for two Guardian University Awards.

The awards put Leeds in the running for both the Entrepreneurship and Business Partnership accolades.

The InTechnology Incubator project by Spark, which helps students to start-up businesses, caught the Guardian’s attention by delivering effective student entrepreneurship and building students’ confidence and experience to build a business through a fully supported programme.

The project is a key milestone in delivering entrepreneurship at the University of Leeds.

The University’s Vice-Chancellor, Sir Alan Langlands, said this builds on our vision to create enterprising opportunities for students, with “clear evidence of excellence in enterprise, enabling students to achieve business success, offering business access to innovation and expertise.”

This adds to many recent honours and awards the University has received in the past year for its enterprise initiatives, including winning the title of Entrepreneurial University of the Year the Times Higher Education Awards in 2015.

The University’s partnership with Marks & Spencer has been nominated for the Business Partnership award.

Recent collaborations include students becoming company ambassadors and M&S supporting students of Leeds University Business School with a mentor scheme.

This partnership continues to create lasting value for both the University and Marks & Spencer. To find out more about how the University’s partnership with M&S brings education and business together, take a look at the video here

Dr Matthew Davis, lecturer at Leeds University Business School, believes it provides opportunities for students to develop and conduct applied research to help them to become more employable. He said: “The skill set developed helps differentiate the students and put them in a strong career position."

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 16 March.
