Biography
I completed an MA Honours degree in German and French at the University of Glasgow in 1999 and stayed on in the German Department to do my PhD, completed in 2003. Before joining the Department of German, Russian and Slavonic Studies here in Leeds in January 2008, I worked for a year as Gastlektorin at the University of Linz in Austria, for 2 years as Teaching Fellow at Lancaster University, and for 2 years as Lecturer at Aberystwyth University.

I welcome expressions of interest from individuals wishing to pursue a Masters by Research or a PhD in any of the following areas: Contemporary German-speaking drama or theatre; borders and border-crossings in contemporary German-speaking culture; cultural representations and constructions of place and identity in the German-speaking world.

- Border cultures and border theory.
- Contemporary German-speaking theatre and drama.
- Migration and transnational experience in Germanic culture, particularly theatre and drama.
- Languages and Intercultural Communication.
Current Research Projects
I am currently at the start of a new research project exploring representations of migration and transnational experience in contemporary German-speaking drama and theatre. This project builds on previous work on cross-border cultural events and performances at the German-Polish Border and at Lake Constance.
