Research Interests
Ken's interests include Hellenistic poetry, Virgil and Ovid. He is author of articles on Virgil, Homer, scholiasts and ancient grammarians, and he is currently preparing a book on etymologies in the scholia to Hellenistic poets and a translation of Hyginus' Fabulae.
He is also an expert in both ancient languages: he has co-written a Beginners' Latin course which uses real Latin texts as the primary vehicle for learning the language, and he plans to write an accompanying ancient Greek version in the coming years.
Biography
I studied for my B.A. and M.A. at the University of Western Ontario (London, Canada) before completing a PhD in Classics at the McMaster University (Hamilton, Canada) in 1993.
In Canada I taught various Classics courses at the University of Western Ontario, McMaster and Brock University in St Catharines, Ontario. I came to Leeds in 1994 and have been teaching the Department since January, 1995. I have also taught Latin and Homer with the Open University.
