Jim joined the Department in 1987, after working in post-graduate teacher education for 12 years, 6 of them at Leeds. He was twice Head of the Philosophy Department, twice Head of the School of Humanities, and University Dean for Students.
He was also Assistant Director of the national Centre of Excellence in Teaching and Learning in Inter-Disciplinary Ethics Applied, based at Leeds; and a member of the national Philosophy and Religious Studies Subject Centre, also based at Leeds.
He is now:
