Nick completed his PhD at Leeds in 2005, and is now employed as a teaching and administrative assistant. His research interests include Modern Philosophy (especially George Berkeley), and the Philosophy of Humour.

His teaching responsibilities include modules covering the history of modern philosophy as well as modules coverning moral philosophy. He is also involved in the running of the 'Proctoring' system, and is the head of first year and head of tutoring.

Research Interests

  • George Berkeley: especially Berkeley's account of sensation, and the role of God in Berkeley's philosophy.
  • Descartes, Malebranche, Locke, Hume, Schopenhauer
  •  The Philosophy of Humour: the essential nature of humour, the ethics of humour.
