On 10 February I attended the inaugural symposium of the Northern Network for the Study of the Crusades at Manchester Metropolitan University, organised by Jason Roche and Kathryn Hurlock, where I gave the keynote lecture, entitled  ‘From Clermont to Mexico: The Changing Goals, Organisation and Participation of Crusading (11th-16th Centuries)’.
