Biography

Catherine was born and educated in France where she became a qualified primary teacher. Having moved to the UK, Catherine studied at the University of Leeds for a Degree in French with minor Spanish and for a PhD on the works of Simone de Beauvoir, obtained in 1995. Between 1995 and 2001, Catherine was a Lecturer in French studies at Trinity and All Saints College, a college of the University of Leeds, until her appointment to the French Department in 2001 as Language Teaching Fellow. As such, she teaches mostly language classes at all levels and oversees the whole language provision on the undergraduate course. She also offers a Level 3 option "French as a Professional Language".

Catherine is the French Department's Year Abroad Coordinator. She sits on the Committee for Foreign Assistants in West Yorkshire, which organises activities on campus every year for over a hundred students from France, Germany and Spain when they come over to be Assistants in Yorkshire schools during their year abroad.

In her spare time, Catherine enjoys reading and films (frequent visits to Hyde Park cinema whenever French films are on!).
