Summary: Georgina studied French at the University and also took the opportunity to learn Portuguese, Spanish and Catalan as part of her studies too.
I’m from Hertfordshire and went straight to university from 6th form. I took Discovery Modules (previously known as elective modules) in Spanish, Catalan and Portuguese during my time at Leeds so I can now say I speak five languages.
My year abroad was the most enjoyable part of the course. I taught English in a primary school on the outskirts of Paris and it was an amazing, unforgettable and invaluable experience. It boosted my confidence in interacting in French tenfold and I would recommend that anyone who gets the chance to take a year abroad does so, you may never get a chance like this again.
Outside of studying at the University there are countless societies and events at the Union. I belonged to the French Society who put on trips and events such as a BBQ I went to in second year and a play I went to in my final year. I often socialised in the Union at the bar or the nightclub.
Now I have graduated, I am working at a firm of solicitors as an Events Coordinator but I plan to go travelling at the beginning of 2015. I would like to be a wedding planner in the future so I am working my way towards that.
