Where the IT-based courseware comes from.
The source of the courseware is much less important than getting it
incorporated into courses. To obtain material, the following sources
can be used. Note that writing your own material is a very inefficient
way of introducing IT-based material into your teaching.
- Pre-existing courseware already used successfully in other
courses. Transfer between BioNet sites. May need to be reauthored to
suit local conditions.
- Purchase of commercially-available courseware. In some cases,
authors who are BioNet members have reclaimed the rights to their
material from the publishers.
- Use of standard productivity packages. Much useful courseware has
been produced using the spreadsheet Excel.
- As a last resort, author courseware de novo.
