Paper Abstract

Rubbered Up With Mother

Paula Farrance, Fine Art, University of Leeds

My research deals with what has been designated the Mother and Daughter relationship, through engaging with the work of Jo Spence. Spence used photography and phototherapy. I work with representations of the body through my drawings and in latex, tracking Spence's process through my own practice. My research slides and crosses between disciplinary lines in theory and practice. I propose to present my work via a Power-point presentation that runs on a loop, while describing the ways in which my experiences of tracking aspects of Spence's practice demonstrate how different my results were.
