My key research interests are in:

  • family, kinship, informal and generational relationships;
  • care, ethics and identity;
  • research methodology, especially qualitative and mixed method approaches, and the potential of e-social science in these domains

Current and recent collaborative research projects include ESRC funded studies on: 'Children Creating Kinship'; 'Gay and Lesbian Marriage'; 'Migration, Kinship and Household Change'; 'Inheritance, Property and Family Relationships'. In relation to the CAVA programme specifically, together with Louise Ackers and Carol Smart I run the Transnational Kinship project, and have also worked on Strands 1 & 2. In all my research activity, I am particularly keen to pursue methodological development and innovation, especially in relation to qualitative and mixed-method approaches.

**Jennifer has recently been appointed Director of the newly established Leeds Institute for the Social Sciences, which will become operational during 2004**
