Course centres prefer to have up-to-date references where possible but if you need to use a reference again that was submitted last year through the online system, your referee will be able to do this.
You will need to use the same email address and password for your application that you used last year, and use the same email address as last year for your referee. This will allow the online system to identify both your application and your reference from last year. This reference will then be made available to the referee when they login to the online system. They will have the opportunity to update the reference if appropriate, before re-submitting it for your application for the 2012 entry.
If your referee submitted their reference on paper last year and you wish to re-use it for the 2012 entry, please contact us for details of how to do this. In this case the reference cannot be updated but would be used as it was last year. About 5% of references were provided on paper last year, rather than through the online system, for various reasons.
There is no limit on the number of years you can use a reference but we must have the agreement of the referee and you must have used the reference last year. If you didn't use it last year we will no longer have a copy: we only have references on file that were used for the 2011 entry.
