The National Health Service (NHS) provides the funding for all the places on clinical psychology courses that you can apply for through the Clearing House. People accepted on these NHS funded places are currently employed by the NHS as Trainee Clinical Psychologists while they study. The minimum salary is £25,528 pa (Band 6 - April 2011 figures).
Course fees are paid by the NHS in most cases. For information on other costs eg travel between placement bases and academic bases, please see the Funding information for each course centre.
It is not usually possible to fund yourself, or use funding from sponsorship or scholarships. This is because the NHS provides funding for all the places most courses are offering.
However, there may be some non-NHS funded places available for British/European applicants at Salomons, Canterbury Christ Church University. Applications for these places (if they become available) will be made directly to the course centre and not through the Clearing House. Please see the information provided by the course centre for details.
If you are from outside Europe please see the International Applicants section for further information on funding and on working in the UK.
