By applying for a clinical psychology training course through the Clearing House you are currently applying for a job with the NHS (see Funding). It is therefore important to know whether you have the right to work in the UK without restriction. A student visa is not enough because if you are accepted for an NHS funded place on a course you will be classed as an employee.
If you do not have the right to work in the UK, the NHS would apply for a certificate of sponsorship for you when you are offered a place. However, there is no guarantee that this certificate would be granted. Non-EEA (European Economic Area) applicants are therefore not usually considered because the NHS is unlikely to employ anyone as a Trainee Clinical Psychologist who does not have the right to work in the UK. Their main aim is to train clinical psychologists to work in the UK on a long term basis.
We are not qualified to tell you whether you have the right to work in the UK or not. You could contact your local British Embassy or contact:

It is not usually possible to fund yourself, or use funding from sponsorship or scholarships. This is because the NHS provides funding for all the places most courses are offering.
However, there may be some non-NHS funded places available for international applicants at North Thames - University College London and Salomons, Canterbury Christ Church University. Applications for these places (where they become available) should be made directly to each course centre and not through the Clearing House. Please see the information provided by the course centres for details.
