After you have submitted your application and your processing fee has been matched with it, if you login to your application you can see the status of your references on the first screen (please see the Submit Your Application page if you need more information about the processing fee).
If the reference is "Not Started/Incomplete" this means that the referee has not answered any questions in the reference yet. If the reference is "Started/Incomplete" this means that the referee has started the reference but has not submitted it yet.
When your referee submits their reference we will email both them and yourself to confirm we have received it. Your email software may treat our emails as junk or spam, so please check your Junk Email folder and/or Spam Email folder regularly.
Once we have received both of your references, and we have processed your application, we will release your application and references together to the courses as soon as practical (please see the After You Apply section for further details about how we process applications).
It is your responsibility to ensure that your references are submitted in good time. However, if we have not received both of your references we will email you during December and/or January to let you know, so that you can chase these up with your referees. Your email software may treat our emails as junk or spam, so please check your Junk Email folder and/or Spam Email folder regularly.
If there is a particular problem with a reference, eg if one of your referees is ill, please contact us (see the Contact Us page for our details).
We will release the final batches of applications to courses on 31 January 2018. These batches will include all applications that do not have both references. If we receive a missing reference after your application has been released we will make it available to the courses but we cannot guarantee that it will be considered with your application.
We cannot accept responsibility for the late submission or non-submission of references.
