Professor Michael Arthur is internationally renowned for his contribution to education and to medical research.

He is Commissioner for the US-UK Fulbright Commission, Deputy Chair of the World Universities Network and Vice-President of the British Liver Trust. He also chaired the Russell Group of elite UK universities for three years until stepping down in August 2012.

Professor Arthur joined the University in 2004. Since then, he has initiated a new strategy and inspired colleagues and students with his vision of gaining a place in the world's top 50 universities by 2015.
