Prior to becoming in charge of the MAAVTS programme, I worked as an in-house technical translator in a large company and participated in a number of international projects creating online resources for translator training. I am currently combining the academic career with working freelance as a theatre captioner. My research interests include fansubbing communities in online subtitling and the impact of blended learning on translation education, focusing particularly on the area of digital content localization for a variety of media – television, DVD or computer screen.

I am a member of Subtle, the UK Subtitlers’ Association and was invited by AHRC to act as External Reviewer for grant applications in audiovisual translation studies.

I provided bespoke training and consultancy to facilitate the use of translation technology both in academic environments and in the private sector. As well as being actively involved in the provision of captioning services at West Yorkshire Playhouse, I am part of an European network including higher education institutions, professional bodies and content and tools providers from industry, creating novel online multimedia translation resources for ongoing translator training.
