CTS Workshop for International Organisations

12 high profile representatives from the UN, WTO and EU language services visit Leeds as part of a CTS workshop for international organisations. The purpose of the workshop is twofold. Academics from CTS will offer machine translation evaluation or English language enhancement workshops for the delegates in order to improve their professional skills. In return, the visitors will conduct master classes for CTS students in the language skills needed for work in international organisations. These include skills in translation, documentation, précis writing, verbatim reporting and conference interpreting. The aim of the event is to further develop knowledge transfer with international organisations as well as to explore the contribution international organisations can make to novel teaching resources for CTS and SMLC students. It is envisaged that such resources will augment research activities in CTS, in turn underpinning research-led teaching.
