Announcing two days of information
and workshops for and about black and minority ethnic disabled people.
Organised by Leeds Involvement Project, in association with the Joseph Rowntree
Foundation, the Centre for Research in Primary Care, and the Centre for
Disability Studies.
A day for black and minority ethnic
disabled people, disability and community groups including mental health
service users, deaf people and people with learning difficulties.
The day will provide practical
information: learn how to help shape the services you use, how to set up and
develop groups and how to identify and assert your needs.
The day is free to disabled people and
people from community organisations of less than 10 people. Cost for others is
£20.
Lunch provided - Halal and
vegetarian diets catered for.
Language support available, sign
language interpreters and personal assistants for disabled people.

A day for commissioners and
providers of services with relevance to the lives of disabled people across
health, social services, employment, community development, leisure, education
and training.
This day will build on the messages
from day one and on the findings of three projects on ethnicity and disability.
Workshop sessions will explore:

What a
user-friendly service looks like.
·
The
impact of legislation.
·
Consultation
and involvement.
·
Information
and outreach.
·
Identifying
support networks and needs.
The cost of the day is £100. There
are some bursaries available to members of organisations experiencing financial
hardship. Please ring to enquire about these. Day 2 is free to all disabled people attending Day 1.
