Members of CDS teach on a variety of courses within the University.

Supervision for Research Degrees (PhD/MPhil)

The Centre has a thriving international community of postgraduate research students and welcomes applications for supervision of student projects addessing disability issues (check School web pages for more information or contact us for an application pack).

MA programs in Disability Studies

The School of Sociology and Social Policy offers taught Master's or Diploma programmes in Disability Studies (which may be taken full-time, part-time). Joint MA programmes are also available, combining disability studies with other disciplines.

MA programs in Deaf studies and Special Education

The School of Education has a strong reputation for its MA in Deaf Education, which recognises the importance of BSL as a language, and the central role of deaf adults in the education of deaf children (can be taken with or without the Teacher of the Deaf qualification, available by flexible distance learning programme). The University also offers an MA in BSL interpreting.

MSc in Health Studies

While disabiltiy studies has frequently critiqued the interventions of health and social work professionals, those critiques have also informed changes in the training of those professionals. Qualifying and post-qualifying course often include elements of critical disability debates within their curriculum.

Postgraduate Modules

Postgraduate modules are offered within existing degree programmes at the University of Leeds, and may also be taken by doctoral students in research training or by visiting international students. A sample of modules currently offered can be found in the University's online module catalogue.
