Powerpoint slides to help Education-line users

Four Microsoft Powerpoint presentations have been put together to help you get a good start with using the Education-line search facilities. A fifth presentation (downloaded hundreds of times during our first year of operation) sets out the original thinking behind the Education-line service.

Many users do not consult any help at all. The interface seems to be clear enough for "intuitive" use without guidance. But we do believe that a little background understanding of how Education-line works can seriously improve the quality and effectiveness of your searching.

These slideshows don't tell you everything, and you will need some practice and several references back to the on line help pages before you become expert. But we do hope the presentations are worth the download time and the three or four minutes that each one takes to run. Best results would be in the Powerpoint Viewer with "Use Automatic Timings" checked.

The slideshows are copyright to Education-line, but we would be very sympathetic to any course tutor or trainer who asked for our permission to use any of them in their work.

Each file is offered in Powerpoint Version 4. Zipped files are also available for faster download times.
