Explore the transformational effect of digital education and hear from experts from Leeds and Indonesia on how online teaching can make access to education equal for all.
Education transforms lives, and equal access to education transforms societies. Technological advances have enabled high-quality education to become available online, within schools, colleges and universities, but also as online courses that can be taken free of charge by anyone, anywhere in the world, with internet access.
Indonesia has a large population of about 240 million people with an average age of around 30 and although the majority of people live on the island of Java, there are 6000 inhabited islands. Digital education has revolutionised the way of providing education across this geographically dispersed country to support study at school, continuous professional development and to reach those who are unable to attend formal education either because of geography or lack of means.
Explore the transformational effect of digital education on this Live YouTube discussion and join Professor Jon Lovett from the University of Leeds, creator and presenter of the successful series of online courses Environmental Challenges, together with Drs Beta Parmita and Annisa Astari from the Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), and Dr Saut Sagala from the Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB).
