Lunchtime seminar series in collaboration with Timescapes and CIRCLE: Carmen Lau is a PhD student looking into the experiences of contemporary Chinese children and families. She will present preliminary findings of an ongoing PhD analysis of British-Chinese families from the North of England. The aim will be to consider how ‘classic’ methodologies can be put to fresh use for current empirical practice. The event will offer a training opportunity for all who are interested in critical engagement in with research methodology, and in research and practice. Presentations from leading academics, workshops and a plenary session will enable delegates to think critically about ‘innovation’ in method, and in practice. Delegates will learn to consider how they might use ‘innovative’ methodologies for their current and future social research practice. This should be a stimulating and enjoyable event, with the opportunity to meet other postgraduates/postdocs, topeers, to share experiences and to learn from others.
