Air travel

If you are travelling to 'Touching On: Derrida and Nancy' by air we recommend that you fly to Manchester, Leeds-Bradford or one of the London airports. This page provides information to help you plan your onward journey to Leeds. Arriving at Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA)

Leeds/Bradford International Airport, about 9 miles north of Leeds, is by far the most convenient airport to use.

There are regular connecting flights to/from London Heathrow and Amsterdam. Wherever you are flying from you should be able to book your baggage straight through to Leeds/Bradford International Airport.

JET2 are based at Leed/Bradford and offer flights from many European cities. http://www.jet2.com/

A taxi between Leeds/Bradford International Airport and the University will cost around £18 with the journey taking about 40 minutes, though this can be dramatically longer in the rush hour.

Arriving at Manchester Airport (MAN)

Many intercontinental flights fly directly into Manchester Airport which is about 80 km (50 miles) from Leeds. There is a train service from the Manchester airport railway station to Leeds railway station. Trains run once each hour and take about 90 minutes.

Arriving at a London airport

If you arrive at one of the London airports, we recommend that you travel to King's Cross railway station, and then by train to Leeds.

From Heathrow to London (King's Cross)

There is a direct underground line from Heathrow to King's Cross. Heathrow web site.

From Gatwick to London (King's Cross)

A Thameslink train will take you to King's Cross Thameslink station, from where there is a walk of about 300m to the main King's Cross railway station. Thameslink trains run every 20 minutes and the journey takes about 50 minutes. Gatwick web site.

Trains from London (King's Cross) to Leeds

From King's Cross railway station there is a direct fast and at least hourly train service to Leeds. The average journey time is 120 minutes. For current timings please see the RailTrack on-line timetable or telephone: 08457 484950.

Please note that the full train fare is rather expensive. If you book the ticket at least one week in advance the price is substantially reduced. It is generally better to buy a "return" ticket, rather than a single ticket for the journey to Leeds and a separate single ticket for the journey from Leeds back to London. tickets area avaible from GNER.
