Welcome
The Friends of University Art and Music was founded in 1989 to promote and support art and music at the University of Leeds. It is a Registered Charity independent of the University of Leeds. Our membership includes a wide range of people, drawn from the University and the wider community it serves.
From informal beginnings as a group of staff members and friends with an interest in helping to foster the University’s musical and artistic life and outreach, FUAM has grown into an active and lively organisation, with a regular programme of events.
Through its fundraising activities it has provided financial, and moral, support to both the University Art Gallery (now the Stanley and Audrey Burton Gallery) and the open concert series. In 1995 it supported the publication “A short history of the University Art Collection and Gallery”, produced to coincide with the Gallery’s 25th anniversary. In order to maximise these activities FUAM gained charitable status in 2002.
