Friends of University Art and Music

The Friends of Art and Music at the University of Leeds was founded to support the University Art Gallery and the Department of Music Concert Series. Since its inception in 1989 it has raised money through subscriptions and donations which has been used to sponsor concerts and assist in the purchase of new works for the Art Collection.
For a modest annual subscription, Friends enjoy discounts and priority booking for evening concerts (admission to the Lunchtime Concerts is free) and invitations to private views of the University Gallery exhibitions. A much-appreciated feature of Friends' membership is the invitation to an excellent series of pre-exhibition and pre-concert talks.
There is a programme of Friends' activities which enable members and their guests to pursue a shared interest in Art and Music in a social setting. Recent visits by the Friends include the Somerset House and Tate Modern collections in London, the Great Yorkshire Art Exhibition in Scarborough, and a performance of Elgar's Dream of Gerontius at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester.
The Friends also run, jointly with the Senior Common Room Club, a shop selling a wide range of classical CDs, records and tapes at discounted rates.
Membership of the Friends is open to all. A warm welcome is extended to those who wish to join in maintaining the tradition of Art and Music at the University of Leeds.
