Clear any outstanding tuition fees to the University

You will not be able to graduate at a ceremony or receive any certificate or confirmation of your award until all tuition fees have been paid. Other unpaid debts (i.e. accommodation or exams) may result in legal proceedings.

Deadline to clear outstanding debts

It can take up to three weeks from the debt being cleared to produce your certificate.

Check we have your correct legal name on the University system

The full legal name that the University has on record will appear on your degree certificate. Once you are awarded, amendments to names cannot be made.
We recommend that the name on your degree certificate matches your other legal documents such as passport, birth certificate and driving licence.
Deadline to change your legal name on the University system

To change your legal name with the University:
Email the Student Services Centre a scanned copy of proof of your legal name, or take it in person to the Counter.

Check you have passed your degree/diploma

It is your responsibility to check you have been officially awarded. The main July pass lists are published on the Portal on the award release date. If you fail your course, your invitation to attend a degree ceremony is automatically withdrawn.

Tell us if you want to appeal your classification

If you intend to appeal or are already pursuing an appeal you must not have your degree conferred either at a ceremony or in absentia. If you attend a ceremony or allow us to post your certificate to you, your appeal will be void.

Email us if you intend to appeal your results so we can make sure your certificate is not posted to you.

The Taught Student Guide has full details of the appeals procedure.
